ABOUT
Gabrielė Aleksė (b. 1990, Kaunas, Lithuania) is a contemporary painter whose practice explores inner spaces and subtle states of perception through architectural and atmospheric imagery. Working primarily with oil on canvas, she constructs painterly environments that function as spatial and psychological structures rather than representations of specific places. Her paintings investigate thresholds between interior and exterior, visibility and absence, where light becomes a structural element shaping perception and experience.
Aleksė studied classical drawing and painting at the Vilnius Academy of Arts (BA, Kaunas Faculty, 2013) and completed her Master’s degree in painting at the Vilnius Academy of Arts in Vilnius (MA, 2015), where she developed a more conceptual approach to painting grounded in spatial inquiry. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including solo exhibitions in France and Lithuania, and group exhibitions across Germany, Poland, Croatia, and Lithuania. She is represented by Meno Parkas Gallery and has participated in international art fairs such as POSITIONS Berlin and Art Central Hong Kong.
Her work has attracted international collectors and has been featured on Artsy, where her presentations have drawn significant interest from audiences in the United States and Asia. She was highlighted as a trending artist in the Artsy Women Artist Market Report 2024. Aleksė is a recipient of Lithuanian Council for Culture State Art Grants (2020, 2022, 2024) and received a special mention at the Claus Michaletz Prize for Eastern European Art (2021). Her works are held in international private collections.
Aleksė lives and works in Kaunas.
